Our Process

I offer two unique processes for wedding invitations that are entirely dependent on what you need and since I know that each couple has their own situation, I try to make it as easy as possible for you to have beautiful wedding invitations that you are so proud to send out.

Our Custom Design and ready-made wedding invitations process

bespoke wedding invitations

Bespoke (or custom designed) wedding invitations is honestly my favourite way to work with couples. I love getting to know you and your fiancé – I'm a real sap so I love hearing all about how you met and how you knew that they were the one you want to grow old with and to experience all of life's adventures with. Your story is unique and I love putting together invitations that are as unique as you. It's also the most beautiful way to make a first impression. Your wedding details can flow out from the invitations and and truly make your day YOURS. Custom design is complimentary for all of our letterpress and foil packages.

ready-made wedding invitations

I know that sometimes custom design letterpress printed invitations just aren't in the budget, and I totally understand that. This is why I have designed a lovely line of invitations that can be customized with your wording. They are digitally printed on lovely thick card stock using any ink colour you'd like. To make it even easier, in order for you to be totally comfortable with a ready-made design, I provide free proofs before you buy anything. All you need to do is provide your wording for your invitations and within 3 business days you will have a low-res proof sent to your inbox.

Our process for ordering wedding invitations

Are you ready to get started?

6 step process for ordering your invitations

1. Browse my invitations & get in touch

Just take a look through my work, either here on over on Instagram and take note of anything that catches your eye and your really like. Then just email me (Amanda) at hello@silverplatepress.com and we can get started.

2. Book Free Consultation

I do all of my initial consultations either over skype, facetime or phone. I find that it's the easily way to work around busy schedules. So grab a cup or coffee and glass of wine and let's chat all about the details. I love getting to know you, and figuring out what your vision is for you wedding and how you’d like your invitations to set the stage for the day. We'll talk about your quantities, number of ink colours, paper and envelope options, what items you’d like printed, and if you want any add-ons like addressing, belly bands, wax seals, etc. If there are some designs that you've seen on my website or instagram that you'd particularly like to see in person, let me know and I can pop the samples in the mail prior to our chat.

3. Proposal, Contracts & Deposit

Once I have a good idea of what you are looking for, I can put together a proposal for you and once you agree on it then I will put together the contract. At this point a 50% deposit it due before I start on any of the design.

If you are ordering a ready-made design, then I will send you a low-res proof before you sign your contract. A 50% deposit is due at the signing of the contract. (Then go to step 5).

4. Designing your invitations

We might have another conversation at this point to talk more about what you are envisioning for your wedding day, but I will come up with at least 3 design concepts. You will have 3 rounds of changes (which has been plenty most of the time). In order to start on the design of your custom invitation, I will need a general idea of what you'd like the wording to be. If you'd like some help in this department, I have a free wording your invitations guide. Click here to access it.

5. Approval & Print

Once you are completely satisfied with the design of your invitation, please double and triple check that all information is there and correctly spelled. Once you sign-off, I will go full steam ahead to make your invitations. I will then letterpress each invitation, by hand using extra time, and careful considerations and an obsessive eye for quality on my beautiful antique printing press.

If you chose a ready-made digital printed design, I will get your invitations printed using the highest quality digital printing presses.

6. Jump for joy and do your happy dance!

Once I have given your invitations once last inspection I carefully package them up and send them to you (to the address your provide on your contract). The remaining 50% is due before they are shipped out. Within a week from completion you will have them in hand and ready to mail them out to your guests – making your wedding day officially official! haha.
